Preston's soccer game on October 18th was a colossal blowout. Four minutes into the game they were ahead 3 - 0 and just getting started. It was clear the other team was not going to score and that the Purple Fire (Preston's team) could score at will. We made sure each player on our team scored by only letting one player shoot; once they had scored then it would be another player who could shoot. Once all the players scored I told the players they could only get inot the right position and block the ball, but they could not kick it-somehow we still scored two goals and the other team had a difficult time pushing the ball beyond mid-field. With that approach not working I finally told my team to just let the other team score, and at that they still had to work (such as missing kicks, throwins to the other team, and Preston making a slow motion goalkeeper dive to let the ball go in) to get the other team to score. In the end we won 12 - 2, and that was with my team handicapped some way 26 minutes of the 30 minute game. In the photo Preston is not balancing the ball on his foot, it is just a well-timed photo of his drop kick from his goalkeeper position.
