Thursday January 10 was the start of Church ball for us. Nikki and Jahna started it off in the afternoon. It was the first time Nikki has played organized basketball, if you consider church ball organized. They knew it would be a long game when they saw one of Alexis' friends show up for the other team. In the past this girl has been able to steal the ball away at will and usually have an uncontested lay up at the other end. This game was no different. Despite the unusually lopsided score, the girls had fun, Nikki showed off her three point form, and Jahna used her quick hands to snag a few steals herself.
Later in the evening Kyle stepped back onto the court for the first time in quite a while. Basketball was not a part of his routine while he was struggling with the undiagnosed seizures. Now that there has been some improvement he thought he would give it a try, and it did not turn out too badly. He hit a three, a couple of shots from the paint and a couple of free throws. It wasn't enough though as his team's third quarter lead slipped away and the opponent ran away with the game in the fourth to post a fifteen point win. While photos of the girls playing are worth seeing, a similar photo of Kyle wouldn't have been pretty.
